The Nineteenth Divertimenti in Corfu Divertimenti in Corfu gives wonderful opportunities to enjoy world class music in unique places. The Herald Duo Jan Valta (violin) and Karel Untermuller (viola) return to Corfu for the fourth time. As a members of the world renowned Herold Quartet they have played in most European countries, several times in England (Wigmore Hall, London), Australia, Japan, South America, Canada and the USA. On 17 September they will be soloists with the Talich Chamber Orchestra in a highly prestigious concert in Prague Castle to celebrate the Anniversary of the “Velvet Revolution” in 1989 with the President and other VIPs present. Phone Dr Spiros Giourgas 6944342020 The Herald Duo are Jan Valta (1977), a graduate of the Conservatory in Teplice and of the musical faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. During his studies he was a prize winner at a nation-wide competition of chamber music and of the Czech Conservatories Competition. At the age of nineteen he became a member of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra for two seasons. As a soloist he has performed in Austria, Germany, France, Spain and Japan. He teaches violin at the Conservatory in Teplice. In 2006, he became the artistic leader of the Herold Chamber Orchestra. He is also a highly successful composer and orchestrator. Last year he conducted the first performance of his cello concerto with the Pilsen Symphony Orchestra. The recording of this has been highly successful; and Karel Untermuller (1972) who graduated from the Conservatory in Prague and the musical faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He took part in chamber music courses held by internationally known musicians including members of the Amadeus Quartet. As a soloist he has performed with several Czech orchestras including tne Suk Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice and the West-Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. He plays often with the great Czech violinist Josef Suk, including recording three CDs of chamber music by Dvořák and Suk. He has performed in most European countries, Japan, the USA and Australia.
